Paul Myners
Paul Myners is Chairman of Guardian Media Group, Land Securities Group, Aspen Insurance, The Low Pay Commission and Chair of the Trustees at Tate. He is a member of the Court of Directors of the Bank of England.
Paul spent most of his working life in the City, in investment banking and investment management, having previously been a school teacher and then a journalist for the Daily Telegraph.
In 2000 he was asked by the Chancellor of the Exchequer to produce a report on institutional investment covering, inter alia, relationships between companies and institutional investors. In 2003 he produced a further report for HMT on the governance of mutual organisations. He was asked to chair the Shareholder Voting Working Group in 2003.
His boardroom experience includes time as Chairman of Marks & Spencer, an Executive Director at NatWest, and a Non-Executive Director at Celltech, Lloyd’s of London, mm02, Orange, Bank of New York and Powergen.
Paul is a Trustee of the Smith Institute and Glyndebourne, and was awarded a CBE in 2002. He is a graduate in Education from the University of London and has an Honorary Doctorate in Law from the University of Exeter.
